Abstract

This article explores the role of Universal Grammar (UG) in the process of second language acquisition (SLA). It examines the theoretical
foundations of UG, its application to SLA, and debates surrounding its accessibility to adult learners. Drawing on prominent studies
and linguistic theories, the paper analyses how UG principles influence second language learning and discusses alternative perspectives
challenging the UG framework.
